Piano at COM
Interested in the Piano Program?
Piano music lessons are tailored to the unique needs of the individual student. Students work from a variety of traditional and contemporary methods and supplemental books chosen to complement their current level of achievement as well as their personal interests. Music reading, piano technique and musicality are addressed from the start. Rote learning might also be included. Students are taught to identify challenges as they arise and to work methodically, using strategies modeled during lessons, to overcome obstacles. Daily practice and receptiveness to the teacher’s instruction will result in solid technique, understanding of musical concepts, a growing sense of accomplishment and increasing appreciation and love for music. Students are encouraged to perform in various settings throughout the year.
A traditional, acoustic piano is strongly recommended for piano study. All digital instruments must be approved prior to acceptance into the program.
