BIOGRAPHY

Nick is from New Castle, Pa. He attended Bishop’s Latin School, a seminary high school in Pittsburgh, which was highly academic: 4 years of Latin, 3 years of Greek, 2 years of French, and 3 hours of homework each night.

 

He received his B.A. in Latin and Greek from Xavier University in Cincinnati, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Latin and Greek from The Ohio State University. He worked at an archaeological dig in Yorkshire, England; completed a 4-week topographical study of Rome; and spent 9 months writing his dissertation at the University of Cambridge, England.

 

This is his 48th year of teaching. He taught for 40 years at St. Francis de Sales High School in Toledo, an all-boys Catholic prep school, and 25 years part-time at the University of Toledo.

 

He and his wife Ann have been married 50 years, have 3 sons, and 7 grandchildren. They have a standard rough collie and 5 cats.

 

Nick loves music, especially classical, plays trumpet in a community band in Cuyahoga Falls, and sings in a church choir. He and Ann live in Stow.
