BIOGRAPHY

Lisa McGinnis began teaching Middle School US History and World History at Ventura Missionary School, Ventura CA, in 1992. Along the way, she taught Science, Geography, Study Skills, and even Boys PE!

A short hiatus from teaching allowed Lisa to stay at home with her sons, Shane and Ryan. She jumped on an opportunity to be a Reading Aide at the Pine Mountain Learning Center, a charter school in the mountains of Southern California where her children also attended elementary school.

A temporary move back down to the city (before a more permanent move to the Midwest!) gave Lisa the opportunity to fill in as a First Grade Teacher back at Ventura Missionary School, which reinforced an excitement for elementary aged education.

A family move to Carmel, IN lead to an opportunity to work as an Instructional Assistant at Carmel Elementary School, working with Kindergarten through 5th grade students in small group math and reading education. Carmel, IN was also Lisa’s introduction to Montessori education through family friends. It was clear to her that the Montessori philosophy mirrored some of her own teaching and parenting styles.

A move to Hudson, OH and the opportunity to work at Hudson Montessori School has Lisa excited to learn and grow as an educator and as a person!

Lisa is working to obtain her Montessori Elementary II Credential (9–12) at Center for Montessori Teacher Education to be completed in May 2023.
